Powered by Youth Voice: Future Directions for Afterschool

Every Hour Counts, in partnership with Youthprise, launched the Powered by Youth Voice: Future Directions for Afterschool initiative. Powered by Youth Voice centers youth voice and leadership to advance new directions for the afterschool field driven by a national youth survey, local youth planning teams, capacity-building led by Youthprise and Greentrike, and youth convenings.

We're delighted to help catalyze community-based planning efforts in six communities led by: After School Matters in Chicago, The Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Flint, Kalamazoo Youth Development Network, Nashville After Zone Alliance, Providence After School Alliance, and Prime Time Palm Beach County.

Through design thinking, peer learning, and networking, this effort will identify best practices to authentically engage youth in program development and designing the future of afterschool.

Building on key learnings from youth development best practices and the 2021 Every Hour Counts National Conference, this initiative is centered around the idea of a reimagined afterschool field with young people at the center - driving program design, data collection, grant distribution, policy and systems change, program implementation, and more.

Every Hour Counts is excited to share learnings from this initiative and partner with others in the field to gather resources on best practice for centering youth voice and leadership in the youth development field.

This initiative is made possible with the support of the Charles Stewart Mott Foundation.
